    Takashimizu

    Akita is famous as a sake-producing area. There are about 40 breweries. At Takashimizu, they are particular about brewing sake with carefully-selected rice and water in Akita. The quality is well controlled. The sake obtained high grade evaluation in national competitions and awarded gold prizes consecutively. You can take a tour inside the brewery.

    The tour requires an advance reservation.

    Hideyoshi(Suzuki Sake Brewery)

    The brewery was established in 1689. When Lord Satake of Akita Domain tasted various kinds of sake to make comparisons, he evaluated sake of this brewery “Hiidete yoshi (excellent, very good)”. That is the origin of the name. Then it became official brewery of the domain and has been loved by local people. It is also known as a sight-seeing brewery today.

    About 10 minutes on foot from JR Ugo-Nagano Station


    Open: 9 am - 12 noon, 1 pm - 4 pm

    Kimura Brewery

    Founded approximately 400 years ago in Yuzawa, Kimura Brewery is the second oldest brewery in Akita Prefecture. They are a brewery that is known for the hard work and careful manual labor that goes into their product. Their most famous label is the "Fukukomachi", which was awarded the prestigious Champion Sake award at the International Wine Challenge 2012.
